19 things we loved this weekend: Rudiger, Guardiola, Kepa, Simons…

The footballing gods treated us to another fine weekend of action as plenty of heavyweight clashes took place across the European continent.

Liverpool shut their critics up with a stirring 1-0 win over Manchester City while Real Madrid won the first Clasico of the season against Xavi’s Barcelona.

And, as usual, there was plenty of amusement elsewhere and we’ve collected 19 things that we loved this weekend.

Virgil van Dijk

Shutting up all the critics with an imperial performance against Manchester City.

Fede Valverde

The Real Madrid man is fast becoming Europe’s best midfielder.

Antonio Rudiger

The centre-back celebrated victory in El Clasico in characteristic style.

Pep Guardiola

Let it go Pep, let it go…

Kepa

The Chelsea goalkeeper is fast becoming one of the stories of the season.

Hawa Cissokho

A mean left hook from the West Ham Women’s star.

Wolves

Give their social media team a pay rise.

Sheffield United 3-3 Blackpool

Six goals, four red cards and a post-match brawl? Lovely stuff…

Hull City

Sensational stuff.

Ray Parlour

We want to go for a Cobrabomb with Ray.

Xavi Simons

The teenager is tearing it up for PSV Eindhoven this season.

Malik Tillman

Tillman scored the type of goal everybody dreams of scoring.

Edinson Cavani

‘El Matador’ is ageing like the finest of South American wines.

Brazilian Serie A

We’ll go out on a limb and say the ‘victim’ has milked any contact here.

Gennaro Gattuso

Gattuso showing all the ability that made him a World Cup winner.

Ademola Lookman

He’s starting to blossom in Italy.

Halesowen Town

You cannot beat the romance of the FA Cup qualifiers.

Nabil Bentaleb

The former Spurs man is enjoying himself with Angers.

Marcos Lopez

Very cheeky from the Feyenoord defender.
