Soccer player Sergio Ramos (c), during the Latin Grammy 2023 awards gala at the Palacio de Congresos de Sevilla, on November 16, 2023, in Seville, Andalusia (Spain). Seville hosts today the 24th edition of the Latin Grammy Awards, which recognize artistic and technical excellence in Ibero-American music. This is the first time since 2000 that the Latin Grammy Awards are held outside the United States and also the first time that the awards ceremony is broadcast internationally.

18 things we loved this weekend: Ramos, Trossard, Mbappe, Szoboszlai…

Planet Football โ€ข

The last international break weekend of 2023 is behind us. Those who dread it will be relieved to know there’s not another until next March, with full focus set to turn back to the relentless club football schedule.

But as international breaks go, this one wasn’t bad โ€“ there was plenty of drama, some exceptional goals, and a history-making thrashing as qualification for Euro 2024 wrapped up. There was also action in the Football League, Women’s Super League and elsewhere.

Here are 17 of our favourite moments from the weekend.

France 14-0 Gibraltar

Absolutely no chill.

Kylian Mbappe

Channelling his inner David Beckham Harry Kane.

Leandro Trossard

We’re still trying to work out how he managed this.

Kai Havertz

Havertz started at left-back for Germany’s 3-2 defeat against Turkey, but scored the opening goal. The enigma continues…

Dominik Szoboszlai

Such a baller.

Chido Obi-Martins

10 goals against Liverpool in a U16 match – watch out for this boy.

Chido Martin Obi of Arsenal U18s. - Chelsea U18 v Arsenal U18, U18 Premier League, Chelsea Training Ground, Surrey, UK. - 30th September 2023.

The WSL Manchester derby

City beat United 3-1 on a day of torrential rain – it doesn’t get much more Manchester than that.

Fabio Quagilarella

The kind of footballer that makes the hearts of everyone at Planet Football sing. Go well, Fabio.

Virgil van Dijk

That’s a monster tackle.

Somalia’s 3-1-6

They were losing at the time – do Twitter tacticos have any shame?

Declan Rice

A lovely goal cruelly robbed by VAR.

Scottish football fans

Unrivalled.

Federico Chiesa

Sparing Jorginho’s blushes.

Erik Janza

A perfect free-kick from the Slovenian.

Sergio Ramos

Sensational scenes.

Jude Bellingham

Very well deserved.

Dan Crowley

We’re calling him the League Two Ronaldinho.

This Football Manager celebration

We’re rattled and this wasn’t even our game.
