Comparing Adama Traore’s 2021-22 stats to Tottenham’s wing-backs
All oiled up, Adama Traore might just be about to slip right into Tottenham Hotspur’s starting XI. He has long been of interest to Spurs and, according to The Times, Antonio Conte’s side are closing in on a deal.
Conte’s obsession with stockpiling as many wing-backs as possible has led to Spurs heating up their dogged pursuit of Wolves’ marauding wingback-cum-winger-cum-one-man-attacking-titan.
Now, if the Times’ report is correct, seems as if only a matter of time until Spurs get their man – and he could be a vital part of Conte’s attempt to get the club back into the Champions League, providing a constant threat on the counter-attack that Spurs often lack.
But, presuming he will be played as a wingback, his inclusion would mean one of Spurs’ other relatively new signings in that area will miss out.
To shed some light on what he’ll bring that the others do not, we’ve compared Traore’s 2021-22 stats to those of Tottenham’s other players in the position. Note: only Premier League stats have been taken into account.
