Europe is home to some of the brightest prospects in world football right now and we can’t help but get excited about these promising youngsters.

We’ve found the 10 under-21 players from Europe’s top leagues with the most goal contributions throughout the 2023-24 campaign so far.

10. Jeremy Doku – 8 (3 goals + 5 assists)

Considering Doku has missed a chunk of the season through injury, it’s impressive in itself that he manages to make the cut onto this list.

Players usually take an adaption period to bed in under Pep Guardiola, but Doku has made an instant impact. Amazingly, five of his eight goal contributions so far have come against Bournemouth.

9. Matias Soule – 9 (8 goals + 1 assist)

Juventus will have been pleased with Soule’s progress of late as the 20-year-old has been thriving with Frosinone on loan.

Impressively, the Argentine attacking midfielder has contributed towards 36 per cent of the goals Frosinone have scored this season. Both Soule and Frosinone have hugely benefited from this loan spell so far.

8. Anthony Elanga – 10 (4 goals + 6 assists)

The Swedish winger made the right decision to leave Old Trafford in the summer as he has been a mainstay in the Nottingham Forest starting XI of late.

Elanga has more goal contributions than any other Forest player since his arrival in the summer and he played a starring role in their latest triumph against the Red Devils.

“Last season wasn’t easy for me because I’d play five or 10 minutes, then I wouldn’t play for 10 games, I’d be in-and-out, in-and-out,” he told BBC Sport.

“I’m just grateful for Nottingham Forest for bringing me in. Now I’m on four goals and six assists, I just want to keep pushing and working hard because I feel like the sky’s the limit.”

7. Savio – 10 ( 5 goals + 5 assists)

Girona have been the surprise package of 2023-24 and it’s thanks to the excellent form of players like Savio. The 19-year-old forward is currently on loan from French club Troyes and he’s had a superb impact so far.

6. Maximilian Beier – 10 (6 goals + 4 assists)

Following two solid seasons in the German second flight, Beier is now impressing in the Bundesliga. The 21-year-old recently established himself as a starter at Hoffenheim and is averaging a goal contribution every 94.8 minutes.

If he manages to maintain that kind of form, some of the big boys could come calling in the summer.

5. Nico Williams – 11 (3 goals + 8 assists)

The likes of Liverpool and Newcastle have reportedly been keeping tabs on Williams for a while now and it’s easy to see why.

Since making his debut for Athletic Bilbao in 2021, Williams has chipped in with 33 goal contributions in 103 appearances. He’s already a star for the national side and has one hell of a future ahead of him.

4. Xavi Simons – 11 (4 goals + 7 assists)

Fresh off the back of a prolific campaign with PSV, Simons is now ripping things up in the Bundesliga. PSG activated their buy-back option in the summer and immediately sent him to RB Leipzig for the season.

Simons has thrived in his new surroundings and PSG will no doubt be keeping a close eye on his development in Germany.

3. Florian Wirtz – 12 (5 goals + 7 assists)

Speaking of youngsters thriving in the Bundesliga, Wirtz has been having a great time with Bayer Leverkusen. Xabi Alonso’s side currently top the table and Wirtz has been a key cog in his system.

After enduring an injury-hit few years, Wirtz has looked sharper than ever in this campaign. With 12 goal contributions in the Bundesliga already, it’s no wonder that Manchester City are reportedly interested.

2. Cole Palmer – 12 (8 goals + 4 assists)

Ditching Manchester City for Chelsea was a bold move in the summer, but Palmer’s profile has grown tremendously since switching to Stamford Bridge.

The 21-year-old has been instrumental in Mauricio Pochettino’s system and he’s only going to get better from this point.

“In the position that he [Palmer] plays, and because he’s a left-footer and because he has some similarities and the quality, he’s a potential Angel Di Maria,” Pochettino said of Palmer in an interview with TNT Sports.

“Angel is a world champion [with Argentina], he was in Paris with us, and is an amazing player. He [Palmer] has the capacity and the potential to be close to him, with time.”

1. Jude Bellingham – 15 (13 goals + 2 assists)

Who else? Since making the switch to Real Madrid in the summer, Bellingham has been on a different planet entirely.

Under the expert coaching of Carlo Ancelotti, there’s nothing stopping Bellingham from becoming the best player in the world. It’s easy to get carried away with the hype, but the 20-year-old looks like the real deal.
