Can you name every winner of the US Open Cup since 1996?

Twelve different teams have won the US Open Cup since Major League Soccer sides were introduced to the tournament in 1996 – but can you name them all?

One of football’s most longstanding competitions, the United States’ domestic cup tournament was contested for the first time back in 1913-14 and involves amateur teams across the country, pitting them against the very best in the MLS and everyone in between.

Since the introduction of the MLS in 1996, only one side from outside of the exclusive, top-flight division has managed to lift the cup, showing how immensely difficult it has become to cause an upset against a major franchise.

The tournament didn’t run in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was won by a team for the second time in their history.

Rather controversially for 2024, however, only eight MLS teams will compete in the Lamar Hunt Open Cup, with Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami sitting out the competition a year after they reached the final.

We’re giving you just 15 minutes to name the 12 different cup winners since 1996, and have given you the year(s) in which each team lifted the trophy as a clue. The rest is all on you – the score to beat from the Planet Football office is 7/12.
