Can you name Liverpool’s XI from Lucas Leiva’s debut in 2007?

Lucas Leiva was a loyal servant at Liverpool, giving them 10 years of full-throttle commitment. But how well do you remember his debut for the Reds in a Champions League qualifying game in 2007?

Lucas signed for Liverpool from Gremio for around £5million on July 18 2007 and made his competitive debut a little over a month later.

Liverpool had reached the final of the Champions League the previous season under Rafael Benitez, but were beaten by AC Milan and were forced to go through the third qualifying round after finishing third in the 2006-07 Premier League.

They faced Toulouse and won a hard-fought first leg 1-0 in the southwest of France before facing their Ligue 1 opponents at Anfield.

It was an emotional night at Anfield, with the Reds paying tribute to murdered 11-year-old Everton fan Rhys Jones before kick-off.

But Rafa Benitez’s side made short work of Toulouse, recording a thumping 4-0 victory to progress into the Champions League group stages.

Lucas made the first of his 346 Liverpool appearances from the substitutes’ bench – but we’re asking you to name the starting Xl from his debut against Toulouse.

The time to beat from the Planet Football office is 03:27 – and there was one name in this that could be difficult to get even for hardcore Reds fans.

If you want another challenge after this, why not try and name every player to wear No. 9 for Liverpool in the PL?
