Newcastle United's Alan Shearer (C) looks dejected, following the 2-0 defeat by Manchester United in the AXA FA Cup final at Wembley, May 1999.

Can you name Newcastle’s starting XI from the 1999 FA Cup final?

Newcastle United won’t remember their FA Cup final appearance in 1999 with much fondness, but can you remember their XI that lost to Manchester United at Wembley?

Ruud Gullit’s Newcastle were massive underdogs against a Manchester United side that had secured the Premier League title the previous weekend.

And the match very much to its script, with goals from Teddy Sheringham and Paul Scholes securing an easy win for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side. They’d complete the treble by beating Bayern Munich in that Champions League final four days later.

Newcastle would’ve been left with regrets after barely laying a glove on their opponents, and they wouldn’t compete in a domestic cup final until February 2023.

We’d like you to name Newcastle’s XI from that sunny afternoon in May 1999 and the score to beat from the Planet Football office is 02:13.
