Some of the Premier League’s greatest forwards have been regular penalty-takers for their clubs – but can you name the division’s top 20 goalscorers from the spot since the start of the 2007-08 season?

With the introduction of VAR in 2019, and the evolution to more progressive tactics over the past decade or so, the amount of penalties awarded in the Premier League has increased.

And, with a host of world-class finishers around, it’s no surprise that some of the best have taken the opportunity to boost their goal tallies from 12 yards.

But, as this quiz demonstrates, it’s not necessarily the biggest names from the biggest clubs that are the most reliable penalty takers and there’s a lot to be said for the longevity of players from more mid-ranking sides.

So we’d like you to name the 35 highest-scoring penalty takers over the past 15 years and, as we’ve already alluded to, it’s not necessarily as easy to name them all as you might expect.

We’ve given you 15 minutes, with only the total number of goals as a clue, making it more difficult. An asterisk denotes a player that’s still active in the Premier League and the score to beat from the Planet Football office is 29/35.

If this gives you a taste for another quiz, then have a go at naming the top English goalscorer from every Premier League season going all the way back to 1992-93.
