A surprise duo make the top two.

Surprise duo ahead of Kane, Mbappe & Ronaldo with the most goals & assists across world football in 2023-24

Superstar names from Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Al-Nassr are among the players with the most goals and assists throughout 2023-24.

In the modern day, we tend to judge forwards by the number of goals and assists they produce. While the majority of big names are currently playing in Europe, stars from all around the globe have been in prolific form this season.

Taking all competitions into consideration, we have found the 10 players with the most goals and assists across world football this season.

Note: when players are tied on goal contributions, we have ordered them by their goal contribution per minute ratio. Lawrence Shankland, Jordan Davies, Ollie Watkins, James Tavernier, Rafa and Bukayo Saka have 31 goal contributions but miss out on this list due to an inferior ratio.

10. Lautaro Martinez – 31 (26 goals + 5 assists)

The Argentine forward has been in the form of his life throughout 2023-24 and his goals have fired Inter to the top of Serie A. Martinez currently leads the Golden Boot race in Italy and he’s also chipped in with a reasonable amount of assists.

Across all competitions, he’s currently averaging a goal or assist every 87 minutes which just about secures him the 10th spot on this list.

9. Marcus Haber – 31 (26 goals + 5 assists)

The 35-year-old forward is enjoying the most prolific spell of his career with Cambodian club Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng.

Prior to moving to Cambodia in 2021, Haber’s most prolific season was with Crewe Alexandra in 2015–16 as he scored 11 goals for the League One club.

He’s blown those scoring numbers out of the water this season and is well on his way to winning his second consecutive Cambodian Premier League Golden Boot.

8. Barnabas Varga – 33 (24 goals + 9 assists)

Only eight players in world football managed to outscore Varga across the calendar year of 2023. The 29-year-old isn’t showing any signs of slowing down either.

Now playing for Hungarian outfit Ferencvarosi, he’s smashed in 24 goals and has provided a further nine assists throughout the season so far.

7. Erling Haaland – 34 (28 goals + 6 assists)

The Norwegian robot broke all sorts of scoring records last season and while his numbers haven’t quite been at the same standard this time around, he’s still one of the most prolific players in the world.

He massively boosted his scoring numbers in the FA Cup as he put five goals past Luton Town to guide Man City into the quarter-finals.

However, despite his elite numbers, even Haaland has been guilty of missing some big chances this season.

6. Aleksandar Mitrovic – 35 (29 goals + 6 assists)

Considering Mitrovic is more than good enough to hit double figures in the Premier League, it’s no surprise that he is currently making light work of the Suadi Pro League.

The 29-year-old has fired Al Hilal to the top of the table and he’s also been on top form in the cup competitions too. With 35 goal contributions and counting, he’ll no doubt be eyeing up some silverware this year.

5. Cristiano Ronaldo – 39 (28 goals + 11 assists)

At the rate he’s currently scoring, it probably won’t be that long until Ronaldo hits 1000 career goals. His current tally stands at 877 strikes, with 28 of them coming this season.

At 39 years old, Ronaldo is by far the oldest player on this list. While the Saudi Pro League isn’t the fiercest competition, his output has still been hugely impressive.

Sometimes you just need to appreciate greatness.

4. Harry Kane – 41 (33 goals + 8 assists)

You’ve got to feel for Kane. The 30-year-old has been in the form of his life this season and yet it looks as though Bayern will end up runners-up in the Bundesliga, finding themselves 10 points off surprise leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

Don’t totally write off a trophy, though. Kane scored his 32nd and 33rd goals of the campaign to overturn Bayern’s first-leg deficit against Lazio and fire them into the final eight of the Champions League.

He’s already scored more Bundesliga goals than any player managed last season and he’s also chipped in with a number of assists too. The England skipper is among the most lethal finishers in the business, but there are still a handful of names ahead of him.

3. Kylian Mbappe – 41 (34 goals + 7 assists)

PSG’s talisman is currently averaging a goal contribution every 69.9 minutes across all competitions. He’s way out in front in the Ligue 1 Golden Boot race with 21 league goals and he’s been just as goal-hungry in the cup competitions too – his brace against Real Sociedad underlines how unstoppable he is.

It seems inevitable that Mbappe will end up at Real Madrid and we can’t begin to imagine the obscene numbers he could produce in Carlo Ancelotti’s superteam. God help us all.

2. Viktor Gyokeres – 43 (32 goals + 11 assists)

Premier League clubs let Gyokeres slip through their fingers in the summer. Following an excellent season with Coventry in the Championship, it became clear that the Swedish forward was ready for the next step in his career.

Sporting won the race for his signature and they hit the jackpot with the 25-year-old who has taken to the Primeira Liga with ease.

He’s quickly established himself as a fan favourite in Portugal and it’s no surprise to see why. With a thunderous shot and deadly drop of the shoulder, Gyokeres is one of the most entertaining players in Europe right now.

It’s no surprise the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in his services.

1. Luuk de Jong – 45 (31 goals + 14 assists)

Premier League fans might remember De Jong from his short-lived loan spell with Newcastle where he struggled to hit a barn door.

It’s fair to say that the Dutch forward has firmly put those struggles behind him these days as he is currently the most productive forward across world football.

The 33-year-old has been in unbelievable form since returning to PSV last season. With 45 goal contributions and counting, he’s currently at the top of the pile.
