Vinicius Jr and an outrageous trivela which cements his Real Madrid legacy
Plenty of wingers can be put into the debate, but there is a strong case to be made that Vinicius Jr is the best winger in world football right now.
The likes of Neymar and Mohamed Salah are honourable mentions for the crown, but no one is doing it quite like Vinicius at this point in time.
Real Madrid is a club built around stars, but the MVP role has been shared around since Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure in 2018. Karim Benzema and Luka Modric have each carried the club recently, but Vinicius has sensed his time now.
The modern game has become more structured than ever, with elite coaches putting more responsibility on the system itself over the individuals.
Vinicius is the perfect antidote to this modern conundrum as his electric flair down the left-hand side for Real Madrid is a joy to behold.
The Brazilian has been targeted both on and off the pitch in recent times, but that doesn’t diminish his flame. His eccentric personality shines through on the pitch and that is what Real Madrid is all about.
At just 22 years old he has already scored in a Champions League and Club World Cup final which will go a long way in cementing his legacy at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The word masterclass is too easily thrown around these days, but his performance in the CWC final can be described as just that.
Completing a total of four dribbles, scoring two goals and providing an outrageous trivela assist for Benzema, it was a successful afternoon’s work for the Brazilian.
Last season he was able to produce his best goalscoring season yet with 22 goals in all competitions and he now looks increasingly likely to break those numbers this time around.
With 16 goals across 33 appearances, countless dribbles, assists and more he is undoubtedly the club’s MVP at this point in time.
Mordic has obviously been giving him a lesson or two because we can’t get over how sexy this trivela assist is. It’s now becoming quite a speciality for Vinicius.

Real Madrid ran out as 5-3 winners on the night against Al Hilal as goals from Vinicius, Benzema and Federico Valverde sealed their second trophy of the season.
Carlo Ancelotti has played a key role in the development of Vinicius and the manager was quick to praise the star man after Madrid’s 5-3 victory.
“Vini is making progress. It started at the beginning of last year,” Ancelotti said in his post-match news conference. “It’s been the same as the progression of the team, winning the Champions League, becoming a world champion now.
“We’re very happy with him, above all because he keeps improving, he’s more efficient, he’s scoring, he makes the difference in every game.”
The Brazilian star was awarded with the Golden Ball for his performances in the CWC and there will surely be plenty more individual accolades to come his way in the future.
