Watch: Man Utd’s Elanga reveals brutal pre-season training regime
Anthony Elanga is determined to impress new Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag if a new video of his pre-season training regime is anything to go by.
Elanga enjoyed a breakthrough season under former interim manager Ralf Rangnick last term and emerged as a bright spark in an otherwise miserable season for the club.
In addition to 27 first-team outings for United, the 20-year-old also won his first five caps for Sweden and the forward is clearly preparing to kick on next year.
He showed off some incredible jumping, which almost beat a world record, earlier in the week – training that Cristiano Ronaldo himself would be proud of.
And Elanga has been hitting the gym hard, after clips have emerged of his pre-season training programme under fitness coach Tom Joyce.
Alongside this, the Sweden international was put through his paces with a number of rigorous shooting exercises – and Elanga hit the target with unerring accuracy.
Having scored only three goals last term, including an important strike against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, Elanga has clearly made it an aim to make his finishing more clinical as he looks to cement a spot in the United starting XI.
Jetting off to Thailand, Australia and Norway before their Premier League campaign gets underway against Brighton on August 7, Elanga will surely be granted plenty of opportunities to impress Ten Hag as United get ready for the new season.
And Ten Hag is hoping to supplement his squad with a number of new signings. Tyrell Malacia has joined from Feyenoord, while a deal for Christian Eriksen has been agreed in principle and Frenkie de Jong could still join from Barcelona.
