Watch: Antonio Conte & Tottenham bench wildly celebrate Kane goal
Tottenham manager Antonio Conte couldn’t hide his delight after Harry Kane scored an injury-time equaliser against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Conte won the Premier League title and FA Cup during his two years at Chelsea but now founds himself in the Tottenham dugout.
The Blues were comfortably the better team in theĀ first halfĀ of the Premier League clash and took the lead through Kalidou Koulibaly’s brilliant volley.
After Pierre-EmileĀ Hojbjerg equalised in the second half, Conte appeared to celebrate directly in front of Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel and that sparked a confrontation between the two managers.
Tuchel then channelled his inner Jose Mourinho and ranĀ down the touchlineĀ after Reece James restored Chelsea’s lead in the 77th minute.
āLucky I didnāt see you⦠making you trip over would have been well deserved,” Conte jokingly wrote on Instagram after the game.
The Italian had the last laugh as Kane headed home from Ivan Perisic’s corner in injury time to rescue a point for Spurs.
Conte, his coaching staff and the Tottenham players all showcased their passion and celebrated wildly after the ball hit the back of the net.
āThis point is important,” Conte toldĀ SPURSPLAY after the game.Ā “Last season we lost three games [to Chelsea in January] but lost three games without playing. It was a big, big difference.
āIt was an intensive game in many aspects, not just tactical, but also this type of game, if you donāt show great personality and character to stay in the game, itās difficult. Weāre talking about one of the best teams in England, in Europe.
āAt the same time, I have to praise my players about the will to suffer, to stay in the game and then, at the end, to get a good result for us.
āIf I have to compare this performance to last season, for sure, I can see good things. At the same time, I have to be honest, we can do better. We can do better with the ball, to be more calm, this apart, eight months ago the situation was really, really difficult.
āWe are working very hard and Iām enjoying a lot working with these players. We have to continue because to reduce the gap with this type of team, you need time, patience and to go step by step. This is a good point, if, on Saturday, we are going to win against Wolverhampton.ā
