Watch: Fabrizio Romano outlines Man Utd’s Benjamin Sesko pursuit

Manchester United‘s pursuit of Red Bull Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko has been fully explained by transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.

Sesko has been linked with the likes of Tottenham, Bayern Munich and Newcastle United in recent weeks but recent reports suggest that Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils could enter the race for his signature.

The 19-year-old Slovenia international was ridiculously prolific at youth level in his homeland and has been compared to former Salzburg forward Erling Haaland.

He has continued his rapid rise since being spotted by Red Bull’s world-famous scouting team and signing for Salzburg three years ago.

He scored 11 goals in his breakthrough campaign for the Austrian Bundesliga champions last term and looks set to be their main man going forward, following the departure of German wonderkid Karim Adeyemi to Borussia Dortmund this summer.

According to Red Bull Salzburg manager Matthias Jaisslea, “Sesko is a very complete striker. He’s quick, big and technically good.

“He has to bring his potential onto the pitch consistently but he still has time.”

Now, Italian journalist and transfer expert Romano has brought us the latest on Manchester United’s interest.

“Red Bull Salzburg have another jewel, Benjamin Sesko,” Romano began.

“This talented player – very, very good player – we had some rumours on Sunday afternoon.

“After my checks, I can state that Manchester United are following this guy. They consider him a really talented player.

“So he’s one of the players they’re considering internally. He’s a player appreciated by Manchester United. Their scouting group knows him so well and they consider him a really interesting talent.

“But, at the moment, it’s not an imminent deal. It’s not an advanced deal.

“So we’ll see if Manchester United decide to submit a proposal for Sesko or not. There are many clubs well-informed on him, including Newcastle.

“Let’s see what Salzburg decide, if they decide to sell him this summer, because the original plan was to sell him in 2023 – but in case top clubs like Manchester United or other Premier League clubs like Newcastle come in, we’ll see. In this case, the situation could change.”
