Watch: Bukayo Saka copies Gabriel Jesus celebration after Arsenal goal

Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka copied Gabriel Jesus’ ‘telephone’ celebration during their pre-season friendly victory over Everton.

Jesus scored 95 goals in 236 appearances in all competitions for Manchester City but has now joined Arsenal in a £45million deal.

The Brazil international always celebrates his goals by bringing his hand up towards his ear, gesturing a phone call.

“Whenever I score for Manchester City, my mother calls me,” Jesus wrote in The Players’ Tribune back in December 2017. “As soon as the ball hits the back of the net, the phone rings.

“It doesn’t matter if she’s back home in Brazil or if she’s in the stadium watching me. She calls me every time. So I run to the corner flag, and I put my hand to my ear, and I say, “Alo Mae!”

“When we were kids, my mom would be calling me all the time to find out where I was, and if I didn’t pick up, she’d start calling all my friends.

“So when I score a goal now, even when she’s not in the stadium, I “pick up the phone” and talk to her.”

Jesus scored Arsenal’s opening goal in their pre-season friendly against Everton and then provided an assist for Saka, who scored from close range.

After doubling Arsenal’s lead, the England international copied Jesus’ celebration and was then congratulated by his team-mates.

Saka has been linked with a move to Manchester City in recent weeks and his current contract is set to expire in 2024. But Mikel Arteta is confident that Arsenal will be able to keep the 21-year-old at the Emirates.

“We will try,” Arteta told football.london. “We both have the same intention. It’s a matter of time.”
