Watch: Fabrizio Romano has latest on THREE imminent Chelsea deals

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel and owner Todd Boehly are going to be very busy until the very end of the summer transfer window – and journalist Fabrizio Romano has brought us an update on three deals the Blues are close to getting over the line.

After securing the signatures of Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella to bolster the first-team squad, Chelsea are now working on negotiating further additions.

And this process has intensified following the Blues’ indifferent start to the Premier League season; last night’s 2-1 defeat at Southampton was Chelsea’s second consecutive away defeat and Tuchel’s side have won just two of their five league matches in August.

Tuchel stated earlier in the summer that Chelsea need quality players through the door if they are to challenge for titles this season, having lost the likes of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

And, in his latest YouTube video, Romano has been given us some more detail about three players Chelsea are close to signing.

“Josko Gvardiol, top centre-back from RB Leipzig,” the Italian journalist said of Chelsea’s first imminent deal. “Croatian centre-back, a fantastic player and one of the best centre-backs in Europe.

“This summer, Manchester City and Chelsea wanted to sign him, Tottenham approached Leipzig too but it was impossible to sign Gvardiol immediately.

“But, in the last 24 hours, Chelsea submitted a proposal for Gvardiol. €90million to sign the player now, but bring the player to Chelsea next summer because Leipzig have no intention of letting the player go now and Chelsea are signing [Leicester City defender] Wesley Fofana.

“So Gvardiol will be signed now and loaned back to Leipzig until next summer. Let’s see if it will be completed, the player is keen on the move but it’s up to the clubs.

“It’s short time, because they only have 48 hours to complete everything, but Chelsea are on it. They want Gvardiol so let’s see if they can complete their first signing of next summer.”

Romano then turned his attention to the Fofana deal, saying: “Wesley Fofana completed his medical in New York, everything is fine. I’m told there were no issues, no problems.

“Fofana will be unveiled as a new Chelsea player on Wednesday, so everything is done; contract is signed until 2028, so it’s six-year deal.”

Finally, touching upon Chelsea’s pursuit of Barcelona forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the transfer guru said: “There was a meeting on Tuesday afternoon but no agreement yet between Barcelona and Chelsea – but negotiations are in progress.

“There’ll be a new meeting on Wednesday between Barcelona and Chelsea, and the agents involved, to try and complete the deal. So, it’s not over yet for Aubameyang.

“On player’s side, it’s agreed. No problem with Aubameyang, no problem with the contract signed. It’s up to the clubs now.”
