Watch: Fabrizio Romano has big news on FOUR Chelsea transfers
Chelsea are set for a busy few weeks in the summer transfer market and Italian reporter Fabrizio Romano has brought us significant news on no less than four potential deals the Blues are working on.
With the change of ownership from the Roman Abramovich regime to the new Todd Boehly-led consortium, Chelsea’s summer dealing looked uncertain for some time.
While the west London club lost players like Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen as their contracts expired, they had to wait for the dust to settle on the sale of the club to start replacing them.
That dust seems to have finally settled for good. Chelsea have already brought in the excellent Senegalese centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly for a fee of around £33million.
And according to Fabrizio Romano, Boehly and the manager, Thomas Tuchel, are working to bring in further defensive reinforcements. Top of their shopping list are Sevilla’s French centre-back Jules Kounde and Paris Saint-Germain’s Presnel Kimpembe.
In his latest video on YouTube, Romano exclaimed: “Chelsea! Super busy this week on the market.
“They are preparing this bid for Jules Kounde [of] Sevilla. They want Jules Kounde and they are in a real battle with Barcelona, because Barcelona are speaking on [the] player’s side with Kounde, with his agent, since [a] long time [ago]. Xavi wants him at Barcelona.
“It’s Chelsea versus Barcelona, it’s a strong battle and we will know more in the coming days because Seviall are waiting for the official bids… At the moment, the player is speaking with both clubs.”
On Kimpembe, Romano added: “Paris Saint-Germain are exploring the market for potential replacements because they know that Kimpembe is an important player.
“They don’t consider Kimpembe a player available on the market because he’s out of the project. But they are open to sell Kimpembe in case they receive the right proposal.”
Romano then went on to speak about two potential departures from Stamford Bridge, those of Cobham academy graduates Armando Broja and Levi Colwill, both of whom spent last season on loan away from west London, Broja at Southampton, Colwill at Huddersfield.
“Armando Broja is really close to joining West Ham,” Romano said. “This could be a permanent deal, this is what the player wants and what West Ham are trying to do.
“West Ham submitted a proposal on Monday. The proposal is £30million, add-ons included, for Broja. Let’s see if there will be a sell-on clause, some buy-back clause included.”
Lastly, 19-year-old centre-back Colwill could also be on his way out. “The player wants to have game time and many clubs are interested, including Everton and Southampton,” Romano concluded.
