Watch: Fabrizio Romano has news of SHOCK Chelsea attacking transfer

Chelsea are desperately trying to source attacking reinforcements in the January transfer window and Fabrizio Romano has news of a move that will stun the club’s supporters.

The Blues have already secured deals for striker David Datro Fofana, French defender Benoit Badiashile and Brazilan starlet Andrey Santos this month.

But they are now reportedly ready to make a winter move for Borussia Monchengladbach and France striker Marcus Thuram.

Thuram travelled to the 2022 Qatar World Cup as his country went to the final before losing to Argentina on a penalty shootout after a frenetic 3-3 draw.

The 25-year-old, who is the son of former France international Lilian Thuram, has a contract with his current Bundesliga side that runs until the end of the season, and previous stories have suggested the German team would be willing to let him go for around £12 million in the winter transfer window to avoid losing him for nothing.

Chelsea have been in the market for a striker since the departure of Timo Werner, who returned to his former club RB Leipzig after an unsuccessful stint in the Premier League, and Kai Havertz has been the first-choice attacker for Graham Potter, which is not his usual role.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was signed by his former Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel, but he was sacked by Boehly, and the Gabonese striker is seen as a back-up given he is 33 years old.

Potter’s side are the lowest scorers in the top 10 of the Premier League and news of a move for Thuram will be greeted with excitement by the Chelsea regulars.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “Thuram is on Chelsea’s list, it’s confirmed they are exploring this possibility and they are having some talks to work out the conditions of any deal to sign the player now.

“Chelsea want Thuram for now, for the January transfer window. They are speaking with the player’s side to understand the conditions and to Gladbach to see how much they want.

“Let’s see what happens as I feel this won’t be a normal one. They really like this player, it’s not just an interest. They consider Thuram a cheap and interesting option.

“But there are many top clubs in England and Italy that want Thuram in the summer on a free so let’s wait and see.”
