Clip recirculates of Sky Sports pundits questioning £50m De Bruyne fee

Kevin De Bruyne claimed three assists in Manchester City‘s 5-1 win over Leicester City on Saturday evening – and it did not take long before an old clip was doing the rounds again on Twitter.

De Bruyne has firmly established himself as one of the best players in the world over the past couple of seasons, and he was in sensational form once again at the Etihad Stadium to help put Leicester to the sword.

The Belgium midfielder now has 14 assists in the Premier League alone this season, four more than anyone else, and that despite him being used in a deeper role by Pep Guardiola.

And after his latest sensational performance, Twitter users were quick to remind everyone what Sky Sports pundits Phil Thompson and Paul Merson had to say when City paid a club-record £55million to sign him from Wolfsburg in 2015.

“The world is going mad,” said Thompson. He probably wishes he’d sat on the fence…
