Watch: Ten Hag celebrates first trophy with sensational dad dancing
Erik ten Hag has won his first trophy as Manchester United manager after beating Newcastle United 2-0 in Sunday’s League Cup final – and celebrated his achievement with some sensational dad dancing alongside Antony and Lisandro Martinez.
Goals from Casemiro and an own goal from Sven Botman ensured United ended a six-year trophy drought with a pragmatic victory at Wembley.
Newcastle pushed hard to restore parity in the second half, but Ten Hag’s side held firm to win the first domestic silverware of the 2022-23 season.
“We have been searching for this moment,” Bruno Fernandes told Sky Sports after lifting the trophy with Harry Maguire.
“I am satisfied now because I get my trophy but I want more. It’s the first trophy of the season but we want more and need more. This is not enough for this club.”
Ten Hag certainly enjoyed the moment and treated United supporters to some excellent dad dancing to mark his success.
Speaking about having dinner with Ferguson last week, the United manager explained: “I always enjoy speaking with people who have a lot of knowledge, a lot of experience and he wants to share it, he wants to help and support.
“Man United is his club and he feels so committed. We are doing well. It was a great night and I look forward to the next night with him.”
Asked whether he still feels the Scot’s influence at the club, Ten Hag told BT Sport: “Every day he’s here and you feel it. He brought the winning mentality, attitude and culture to this club.
“[Being] hard to beat, confidence, belief – he brought it and it’s great to talk with him.”
We wouldn’t bet against Ten Hag adding more trophies to his collection at Old Trafford.
