Watch: ‘F*cking rubbish!’ – Erik ten Hag gets angry with Man Utd player

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag showed no signs of complacency during their recent training session in Perth.

Ten Hag has a big job on his hands after taking over a United side that underachieved last season and finished sixth in the Premier League.

But he’s made a positive start, overseeing comfortable wins against Liverpool, Melbourne Victory and Crystal Palace in pre-season.

Despite the victories, Ten Hag isn’t getting carried away and hasn’t been completely satisfied with his players. He shouted at Jadon Sancho during a training session and was caught swearing at David de Gea after the goalkeeper kicked the ball long against Palace.

Zidane Iqbal became the latest player to feel Ten Hag’s wrath during a quick keep-ball exercise in an open training session in Perth.

The midfielder has had an impressive pre-season but his manager did not let him off when he made a mistake in training, shouting: “F*cking rubbish.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferred the arm-around-the-shoulder approach but United’s players appear to be responding to Ten Hag’s no-nonsense approach.

“I think we missed that for a while,” Bruno Fernandes said recently. “For me, the way I see discipline is important. Discipline is not only the way you play on the pitch, the position that you have, what you have to do.

“It’s also off the pitch – don’t be late for the meetings, don’t be late for the meals. I think that’s really important, because if everyone is on time and someone comes late, he should be punished.

“So I think that’s really good that he’s doing that and for me amazing, because I like to be on time, so I won’t have problems with that.”
