Watch: Ex-Arsenal star Mesut Ozil scores with signature ‘bounce’ finish
Mesut Ozil was one of the most skilful players of his generation in his prime, and is starting to roll back the years at his new club.
After an initial slow start coupled with injury and a lack of fitness, the World Cup winner is loving life at Fenerbahce in Turkey, with six goals and two assists in 12 starts this season.
The former Real Madrid and Arsenal star was renowned for his vision, technical skill and creative ability, and even devised his own ‘bounce’ finish, where he would generate height on the ball by hitting it towards the goal, using it to chip goalkeepers on multiple occasions.
With his team 1-0 down away at Gaziantep FK, Ozil started and finished a stunning goal, with an initial backheel near the halfway line, followed by a looping run, where Bright Osayi-Samuel found him with a through ball.
Ozil then chipped the goalkeeper, from a similar angle to his ‘bounce’ finish against Liverpool and Simon Mignolet back in 2017, to equalise for his team. Class really is permanent.
What a goal Ozil….created it then finished it. Miss watching him in the PL 🙁pic.twitter.com/k3TZKKxXN6
