Watch: Fabrizio Romano has big news on FIVE Chelsea transfers
The transfer window has just three and a half weeks left to run but Chelsea have a lot of business left to do before deadline day – and Fabrizio Romano has brought us an update of five potential deals that the Blues are currently working on.
It has been a strange summer for Chelsea. Owing to the sale of the club by Roman Abramovich to the consortium headed up by Todd Boehly, it was difficult for the Blues to plan ahead and that has had knock-on effects.
First, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel saw important first-team players like Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen leave on free transfers as their contracts expired. And then came the rush to replace them and improve the squad.
Chelsea have now done some notable deals. Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella have all arrived and will reinforce the first team immediately.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have also recruited talented younger players like Carney Chukwuemeka, Omari Hutchinson and Gabriel Slonina as part of their plans for the long-term.
Yet Tuchel and Boehly’s transfer work is not done.
The Premier League season has now started, with Chelsea beating Everton 1-0 in their opening game. But according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, the Blues are still working on five deals – three possible outgoings and two potential new arrivals.

In his latest YouTube video, Romano said: “Marcos Alonso, not in the squad for the Everton game because he’s really close to joining Barcelona.
“Barca are closing on this deal. I told you on Friday night that the deal is really close to being completed. The fee will be less than €10million. And so, Marcos Alonso has an agreement since April with Barcelona on personal terms and could be the next Barca signing.
“[Callum] Hudson-Odoi, he was not on the list for the squad [for the Everton game] too. Why? Because Leicester have an interest since long time. He was discussed as a potential part of the [Wesley] Fofana deal, but at the moment it’s not the case.
“And, Southampton, leading the race I am told – exclusive news – Southampton are trying to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi on loan from Chelsea. Negotiations [are] ongoing.”
Talking about potential deals for players joining the club, Romano continued: “Let’s remind [ourselves] about Wesley Fofana. They [Chelsea] did a second bid, more than £70million, add-ons included.
“Leicester said no, they want way more than this and they hope to keep the player. But Chelsea will be back. Contacts are ongoing also during the weekend and Chelsea will be back next week.
“Chelsea will insist for Wesley Fofana, the player would be open to joining Chelsea, so it’s up to Chelsea now to find an agreement with Leicester. Keep an eye on [Ruben] Loftus-Cheek, because he could be part of the conversations between the two clubs.
Finally, Romano said: “Benjamin Sesko, there was a meeting of his agent with Chelsea one week ago.”
But, the journalist added, Chelsea are not the only club interested.
Manchester United and RB Leipzig are both in the chase for the promising Red Bull Salzburg striker and are also talking to the Slovenian player’s representatives.
