Watch: Fabrizio Romano’s fresh update on Man Utd, De Jong, Antony

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has given a fresh update on Manchester United’s pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, Ajax starlet Antony and Porto star Evanilson.

The Italian social media phenomenon is known as the king of transfer gossip and has continued to drip-feed fans of Manchester United new nuggets of information throughout the summer.

It’s long been known that United are looking to reinforce their midfield and Romano has spoken at length about how De Jong is their top target – which suits Barcelona, who remain in a financially precarious position and are well-stocked in midfield with Gavi and Pedri emerging.

But it remains to be seen whether a transfer will be completed, with De Jong reportedly rather staying put in Catalonia.

“I love being at Barcelona! I’d probably sign a six-year contract extension if they’d propose me, yes,” the Netherlands international told ZiggoSport back in March.

“Manchester United and Barcelona have been in direct contact today for Frenkie de Jong. Still no agreement on the fee, as Barça told Man Utd they won’t sell FdJ for less than €86m,” Romano tweeted yesterday.

“Barcelona want full fee guaranteed, also because of La Liga rules to reinvest money.”

Now Romano has broken down the full details in a new video posted on his YouTube channel, giving all the latest information of Manchester United’s summer dealings – including why we ought to take reports coming out of Portugal linking the club with Evanilson with a massive pinch of salt.
