Gabriel Jesus had another brilliant game during Arsenal’s Premier League victory over Liverpool and left fans at the Emirates purring after leaving Trent Alexander-Arnold for dead with a silky turn.

After signing from Manchester City over the summer, Jesus has been one of the best players of the 2022-23 Premier League seasons.

And club legend Ray Parlour has been blown away by just how good the Brazil international has been since he joined the Gunners.

“The third goal was brilliant from Jesus,” Parlour said on talkSPORT after Arsenal’s victory over FK Bodo/Glimt last Thursday. “He’s so lively isn’t he?

“The way he just turned on the half turn and once he’s got that little turn of pace he goes past the defender and they can’t bring him down. His ball skills are so good in front of goal.

“Unbelievable. Do you know what it is. He’s the main man now. At City, you know, he was a fringe player wasn’t he. Wasn’t playing on a regular basis. Now he’s centre-forward, he drifts out to the left quite often a little like Thierry Henry used to.

“I know he’s a totally different player to Thierry Henry but he’s been an absolute revelation since he’s been at Arsenal. So has Zincehnko. Recruitment, we always say is so important in football clubs. It’s been spot on.”

And Jesus wowed the Emirates faithful during Arsenal’s 3-2 victory over Liverpool by leaving Alexander-Arnold in his wake during the first half.

Miles away from the opposition goal, with the danger appearing minimal, the striker destroyed his opponent with a majestic turn and acceleration that earnt appreciative whoops from Gunners fans.

After their latest victory, Arsenal remain at the Premier League summit with eight victories from their nine league matches this season – and we can imagine Arsenal fans getting very excited about what could be possible this year…
