Watch: Chelsea’s Ziyech and Lukaku argue with each other at interval
Chelsea team-mates Hakim Ziyech and Romelu Lukaku were caught in heated debate as they departed for half-time during their Premier League match at Brighton.
Thomas Tuchel’s side travelled to the AMEX Stadium knowing that their realistic title ambitions were extinguished by their defeat at Manchester City last Saturday.
But they didn’t let their performance drop during this rearranged fixture and Ziyech’s tidy strike gave Chelsea a first-time lead.
That didn’t seem to sate the Morocco international as the half-time whistle blew as he left the pitch arguing with Lukaku.
Both players hid their mouths from wannabe lip-readers in the crowd but it was clear that neither player was satisfied by the events of the first 45 minutes.
Tuchel spoke about Lukaku before Tuesday’s match, with the £97.5million signing failing to impress at Stamford Bridge this season.
“I think we do everything to help (Lukaku),” the manager said in his pre-match news conference.
“This is what we do for any player. This is a team sport and it’s not about 10 players serving one player. It is not Chelsea and it is not football. Every player is there to serve the team. This is the highest principle and won’t change.
Hakim Ziyech and Romelu Lukaku are having a difference of opinions heading into the break, despite the Blues' lead… 👀
