Watch: Man Utd’s Hannibal Mejbri gives us the sh*thouse moment of the World Cup so far

Manchester United youngster Hannibal Mejbri gave us the gift of one of the biggest sh*thouse moments of the World Cup so far.

Hannibal has only made a handful of appearances for Manchester United, but he’s already made it to the World Cup stage, having established himself as one of Tunisia’s most promising prospects.

The 19-year-old midfielder has received 20 caps for the African nation, while only having made three first-team appearances for the Red Devils. He’s now getting regular club experience, out on loan at Championship side Birmingham City.

One of the first moments in which he caught the eye came back in April, when he was brought on as a late substitute in United’s chastening 4-0 defeat to old rivals Liverpool. His aggression and desire greatly impressed former United right-back Gary Neville.

“To be fair at least the kid’s showing something,” said Neville from the commentary box.

“Honestly, it takes a young kid to come on and show the rest of them how to sprint to the ball and put a challenge in. I’m actually proud of him. Maybe he doesn’t like the idea of Liverpool passing around him, I wish the others were the same.”

“I erred on to the slightly unprofessional side of commentary tonight when I said that the kid (Mejbri) to be fair I was proud of him because he was going around trying to top people and trying to kick people,” Neville added later that evening.

“But he demonstrated something, he showed something. He didn’t like the idea of Liverpool, at Anfield, passing it around him and the idea of Liverpool taking the mick out of him and his team-mates. At least he demonstrated something. I am not saying it is brilliant because he could have hurt the Liverpool players, but as a Manchester United fan you can respond to that.”

We saw more evidence of his spiky side without even stepping onto the pitch in Tunisia’s 1-0 defeat to Australia.

Having been named on the bench, Hannibal had to watch from the sidelines as Tunisia went behind, while he remained an unused substitute as coach Jalal Kadri turned to other options.

But we still noticed the teenager, with a hilarious moment of sh*thousery when he threw the ball back to Australia – by pelting it straight at the Kangaroos’ match-winner Mitchell Duke.
