Jose Mourinho looks forlorn during Roma's match against Sampdoria in the Serie A, Genova, Stadio Luigi Ferraris, 3 April 2022.

Watch: Mourinho reacts pathetically after child pelts snowball at him

Jose Mourinho had a snowball thrown at him by some children before his Roma side fell to a 2-1 defeat against Norwegian champions Bodo/Glimt in the first leg of their Europa Conference League quarter-final.

Mourinho had been walking over to the group of children to greet them when one threw a snowball that fell just short of hitting the Portuguese manager.

He immediately walked away, much to the disappointment of the crowd who let out a collective disappointed sigh in response.

The Roma manager gestured to them, indicating that he wasn’t going over because someone threw the snowball. Who is the childish one in this situation, we ask?

Mourinho’s Roma then proceeded to lose for a third time this season to the Norwegian champions Bodo/Glimt, having been bested both home and away in the group stages of the Conference League.

Those defeats included an embarrassing 6-1 loss in Norway, but Mourinho was unable to gain revenge for it when his Roma side returned to Bodo/Glimt’s Aspmyra Stadion for the first leg of their quarter-final.

Lorenzo Pellegrini had given Roma a first-half lead just before the break, firing in powerfully at the near post.

But the Norwegian champions pulled off a second-half comeback to win 2-1, with Hugo Vetlesen scoring from an 88th-minute corner to win the match for Bodo/Glimt and give his side a slender one-goal advantage heading into the second leg at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Mourinho was scathing of both the plastic pitch at the Aspmyra Stadion, which is necessary due to the conditions in northern Norway, and the refereeing standards in the tournament.

“To be honest, the thing that worries me the most is the injury for [Gianluca] Mancini. It’s a concern, it’s something caused by playing on a plastic turf,” he said post-match.

“When we played in Rome against them, [there] were two very clear penalties for us that the referee did not see, while today there were two moves that were flagged offside.

“The first half ended with a ridiculous situation as the offside flag was up on a throw-in, which shows you the level.”
