Watch: Jurgen Klopp sent off after losing his sh*t at Salah non-foul

Jurgen Klopp was shown a red card for foul language towards a match official as Liverpool secured a huge 1-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday.

Klopp charged down the touchline and berated the officials after deeming Mohamed Salah to have been fouled by Bernardo Silva late on in the second half.

Referee Anthony Taylor adjudged Klopp to have overstepped the mark and sent him to the stands following his berating of the referee and his team.

Klopp, like everyone else inside Anfield, was sucked in by the fraught and tense nature of the game and let the assistant referee know what he thought of the non-whistle for the tackle on Salah.

Liverpool were looking to see out their 1-0 advantage, given to them by Salah’s imperial goal, with the team being pushed further and further back by City. The Egypt international had the ball high up in City’s defensive third and looked to buy time before Bernardo Silva took him down.

The majority of those inside Anfield appeared as incredulous as Klopp at Taylor’s refusal to blow his whistle.

Speaking after the game, Klopp told Sky Sports: “In the end, probably deserved, but you cannot have this situation.

“It is the clearest foul I ever saw in front of the linesman and he is not bothered. It is clear. They just watch the game but we [the managers] are involved.”

Pep Guardiola appeared to be extremely angry at VAR’s decision to disallow Phil Foden’s second-half strike, while City’s players felt Thiago Alcantara should have been dismissed for a tackle on Rodri.

Liverpool’s victory has the potential to kickstart their season after winning just two of their first eight Premier League matches but it remains to be seen whether Klopp will be on the sidelines for Wednesday’s home match against West Ham.
