Watch: Kylian Mbappe leaves Militao with twisted blood in CL victory

PSG forward Kylian Mbappe stole the headlines on Tuesday with his winner against Real Madrid in their Champions League clash – but it was his off-the-ball movement that underlined his status as an elite player.

Mbappe produced another match-winning display on Tuesday as PSG beat the La Liga leaders 1-0 in the first leg of their last 16 tie.

The World Cup winner scored a brilliant solo goal in the final moments of the game to secure a deserved victory for PSG at the Parc des Princes.

And he ran Madrid’s defenders ragged throughout the match, overshadowing seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi.

One moment that demonstrated his class came during the game’s first half. Finding himself tracked by Real defender Eder Militao, Mbappe initially dropped short for the ball with a series of quick turns – leaving Militao unsure whether to follow him into midfield.

The Brazilian eventually opted to track Mbappe but got his timing wrong, allowing the forward to turn him just as a pass was played over the top.

Mbappe used his pace to race clear of Militao and almost latched onto the through ball but goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois intercepted it in the nick of time.

Following the victory, Mbappe has reportedly been made a huge contract offer by PSG which would see him become the highest-paid player in world football.

The Independent claim PSG have offered him a deal worth significantly more than £500,000 a week and closer to £1m a week.

But it’s still strongly rumoured that Mbappe will be joining Real Madrid once his contract expires at the end of the current season.
