Liverpool players were in a joyous mood as they celebrated their FA Cup final penalty shootout victory over Chelsea at Wembley.

Despite both sides creating bucket loads of chances in regulation and extra time, a breakthrough couldn’t be found which saw the goalless encounter head to penalties.

The Reds won the competition for the eighth time in their history by winning 6-5 in the shootout. Kostas Tsimikas scored the decisive spot-kick, capitalising on Mason Mount’s miss at the sudden death stage.

In a video posted on the club’s social media, we were given some access to the Liverpool dressing room as the players belted out ‘Allez Allez Allez’ and danced in unison.

This is the second time that the Reds have clinched a trophy on penalties this season as they won the Carabao Cup in February against Thomas Tuchel’s men in the same fashion.

“In the end we all know penalty shootout is a lottery, that’s how it is; but we did it again,” Jurgen Klopp said post match.

“We work together with the company neuro11, four guys from Germany.

“They got in contact with us a few years ago. They are neuroscientists and they said ‘we can train penalty shooting’.

“We said ‘really? That sounds interesting, come over’. And so this trophy is for them, just like the Carabao Cup was.”

Klopp has another final on the horizon at the end of May. A Champions League showdown with Real Madrid offers the chance for the Premier League titans to win their third trophy of the season.

It could be a game which sees the Reds win an unprecedented quadruple depending on what happens in the league on the final day of the 2021-22 campaign.
