Watch: Jurgen Klopp’s reaction to Nunez miss is absolutely hilarious
Liverpool relinquished their hold on the League Cup after a 3-2 defeat against Manchester City on Thursday evening and Jurgen Klopp’s reaction to one of Darwin Nunez’s misses has left us chuckling all morning.
The Reds travelled to the Etihad Stadium for their first post-World Cup match looking to knock one of their biggest domestic rivals out of the competition but it was City who emerged victorious.
The game went into the half-time break level with Fabio Carvalho cancelling out Erling Haaland’s early opener.
And City took the lead once more just after the restart through Riyad Mahrez, only for Mohamed Salah to level the scores again moments later.
Eventually, it was the home side who won it with Nathan Ake notching what proved to be the winner in the 58th minute and Liverpool exited the competition that they won in February this year.
But our moment of the match came when Klopp suffered what looked like a dancing fit following a miss from Nunez that would have taken the game to penalties. Seriously, you need to see it to believe it.
“He’s not the most technical in terms of his finishing,” Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher told Sky Sports after the game.
“When I’ve seen him really strike his foot through the ball – even when it goes down the centre – he’s got that much power in his shot that he can send the goalkeeper into the net.
“Maybe it’s a few levels above him right now but sort of like Alan Shearer, how he used to finish.
“When you think of an Alan Shearer finish, you think of almost bursting the net. I think that’s the type of finish [Nunez] sort of does.”
