Watch: Fabrizio Romano drops major hint on Antony to Man Utd

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has dropped a major bombshell on Antony’s prospective transfer to Manchester United.
Antony has been a top target for United throughout this summer, and in recent days the club appear to have sprung into action to get a deal done.
Having announced the signing of Casemiro from Real Madrid on Friday night, attention has now turned to securing a new winger – and they could well be getting another Brazil international next.
The 23-year-old registered 22 goals and 20 assists in 79 appearances under Ten Hag at Ajax. He won two Eredivisie titles after joining the Amsterdam club from Sao Paolo back in 2020.
On Friday, United are said to have had an €80million bid rejected by Ajax. According to Romano, that disappointed Antony, who has his heart set on a move to Old Trafford.
It should be no surprise to see the Red Devils looking to the Netherlands for their next new recruit, given their summer business under Ten Hag so far.
Lisandro Martinez has already arrived from Ajax, Christian Eriksen came up through their renowned academy and Tyrell Malacia was signed from Feyenoord. Barcelona target Frenkie de Jong, who remains a target, also came through at Ajax under Ten Hag.

If United judge Ajax’s asking price for Antony to be too high, reports suggest that they’ll look to PSV’s Cody Gakpo as a much cheaper alternative option. But they don’t appear to have given up on the Brazil international just yet.
“Antony – Brazilian winger from Ajax. Top talent, top player,” began Romano in his latest YouTube update.
“We know that Manchester United submitted a new proposal in the week. €80million and Ajax said no.
“I told you also yesterday that Ajax wants to join Manchester United and now the pressure is really high because the player and his agents are insisting with Ajax to consider negotiations with Manchester United to try find an agreement.
“They want them to try and negotiate, and not to only say ‘no, no, no’, reject every single proposal. They want a negotiation because Antony wants Manchester United move. But at the same point, Ajax are still on the same position.
“Let’s see what happens on the player’s side, because – again – Antony didn’t show up to training on Saturday morning with his team-mates. Antony was not there. There is a chance that he will be out of the squad for the Sparta Rotterdam game.”
And sure enough, Antony’s name was missing from Ajax’s teamsheet for today’s match against Sparta Rotterdam.
