Watch: Paul Pogba produces cheeky nutmeg after brilliant first touch

While Paul Pogba had a difficult afternoon during Manchester United’s 3-2 win over Norwich City, he was still able to produce a moment of magic.

After Scott McTominay and Fred were ruled out of the game due to injury problems, Pogba started at the base of a midfield three with Bruno Fernandes and Jesse Lingard ahead of him.

Cristiano Ronaldo broke the deadlock with a goal from close range and then headed home an Alex Telles corner to double United’s lead in the 32nd minute.

With United leading 2-0, Pogba took down a high ball near the touchline before nutmegging Pierre Lees-Melou and shrugging off a challenge from another Norwich player.

But things soon went downhill for Pogba and United. Norwich got a goal back through Kieran Dowell before Teemu Pukki equalised in the 52nd minute.

After Juan Mata was brought on to replace Pogba in the 74th minute, the France international was booed off the pitch by United fans.

United did still get all three points against Norwich as Ronaldo fired a free-kick past Tim Krul to complete his 60th career hat-trick.

“I told the team we were playing with a very offensive formation and line-up, with Paul Pogba, with Bruno in midfield and with Jesse,” interim manager Ralf Rangnick said after the game.

“This is a very offensive formation and line-up and I told them it’s very important we play with a defensive mindset, that everyone has to think like a defensive midfielder.

“But after we scored the second goal we allowed them too much open space for the transitional moments. If you look at the two goals we conceded, especially the first one, we had the ball on the sideline but we were not physical enough, as soon as there is body contact we have to be more aggressive, more physical. That’s why for me, it’s too easy.

“We are the only team in the league who concedes goals like this, we were all behind the ball in that moment, so it was not a question of tactical discipline it was a question of how physical we defend in moments like this.”
