Watch: Fabrizio Romano has update on Man Utd targets Dybala & De Jong
Manchester United are currently dominating the transfer gossip columns and journalist Fabrizio Romano has delivered another update.
United finally made their first signing of the summer on Tuesday, confirming the arrival of left-back Tyrell Malacia in a £13million deal.
Erik ten Hag’s side are also expected to announce the signing of Christian Eriksen in the coming days after the midfielder agreed to a three-year contract at Old Trafford.
United have now been linked with a move for Paulo Dybala following the news that Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave the club this summer.
Dybala scored 15 goals in 39 appearances for Juventus in 2021-22 and is now a free agent after his contract expired at the end of the season.
The Argentina international had looked set to join Inter Milan but that deal is currently on standby and United have shown some interest.
“At the moment with Manchester United, just some agents talk,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.
“They had some discussions because it’s normal for a top player like Dybala and his agents to discuss with many clubs around Europe but still no bid for Dybala so let’s see what’s next because we know that with free agents many things can happen.
“We keep it open but let’s say that at the moment the real focus with Manchester United is to understand what they have to do with Cristiano Ronaldo because Cristiano wants to leave.”
Ten Hag’s top transfer target throughout this summer transfer window has undoubtedly been Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
United have reportedly agreed to pay an initial €65million but the deal has been moving slowly and Romano has provided an update.
“The negotiation is still there,” Romano added. “It’s true that the Barcelona president Joan Laporta said he wants to keep De Jong, and he’s not for sale.
“But in his statement, he also said unless it’s not necessary because it could happen for Barcelona that they would be forced to sell Frenkie de Jong in case he will not accept to reduce his salary.
“At the moment, what I’m told is that Frenkie loves Barcelona and wants to continue at Barcelona so the personal terms are still the big issue of this De Jong deal. But at the same point, he’s not open to renegotiate his contract and to reduce his salary.”
