Liverpool target Timo Werner was back among the goals with a hat-trick on Sunday as RB Leipzig thrashed Mainz in the Bundesliga.

Werner is one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe thanks to his form for Leipzig over the past few seasons.

The striker has himself publicly flirted with Liverpool on a number of occasions, while four key updates were published on any potential deal earlier this week.

To his credit, the 24-year-old has not let the speculation affect his performances, with 2019-20 proving the most productive season of his career to date.

Having scored 27 goals in all competitions already this term, Werner took his tally to 28 after just 10 minutes against Mainz courtesy of a smart finish.

And Werner added a second to make it 4-0 on the afternoon by finishing off a good team move from Leipzig.

Werner then completed his hat-trick after quick thinking from fellow goalscorer Yussuf Poulsen.
