Emile Smith Rowe made his first Premier League appearance of the season during Arsenal‘s 3-1 win over Chelsea and showed why he is so highly rated.

Smith Rowe spent last season on loan at Championship side Huddersfield, registering two goals and three assists before returning to the Gunners.

“Emile is just a really lovely player, isn’t he?” Huddersfield manager Danny Cowley said after their 2-1 win against Bristol City in February 2020.

“He has that ability to find space; he could find space in a telephone box; he speeds the play up for you and draws and commits and I think it would have been a brilliant performance if he had scored.

“I am always going to be demanding of him because, to me, he is a Premier League player so I have to treat him like that and demand Premier League standards from him – in training and in games, day in and day out.”

After impressing in the Europa League, he was handed a surprise start against the Blues and added some creativity from the No.10 role.

Alexandre Lacazette and Granit Xhaka made it 2-0 before Smith Rowe registered his first Premier League assist by setting up Bukayo Saka.

The 20-year-old also managed to embarrass Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante, putting the ball through his legs and passing to a team-mate.
