Watch: Wenger praises Kante’s CL final display – ‘absolutely unbelievable’

Chelsea‘s 1-0 victory over Manchester City in the Champions League final was filled with exceptional individual performances, but none more so than N’Golo Kante, who was named man of the match.

Kai Havertz scored the decisive goal after a stunning pass from Mason Mount, while the likes of Antonio Rudiger, Reece James and Andreas Christensen produced giant performances in defence, but they were all outshone by the smallest man on the pitch.

Kante was also named man of the match in both legs of the semi-final against Real Madrid, and has now comfortably secured his status as a modern great by adding the European Cup to his honours list, which already included the World Cup, the FA Cup, Europa League and two Premier League titles with Leicester and Chelsea.

Legendary former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has long been on the record as an admirer of his compatriot, stating that he’d twice tried and failed to bring Kante to the Emirates.

Wenger was no contrarian when it came to his post-match analysis, agreeing with the consensus that the France international was Chelsea’s standout man – “We have seen a man who is above everybody else, N’Golo Kante.”
