Watch: Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger reacts brilliantly after winning pen
Antonio Rudiger has been in brilliant form for Chelsea recently – and his positive influence continued on Wednesday night against Malmo in the Champions League as he won a penalty for the Blues before reacting hilariously.
Chelsea were dominant against their Swedish visitors at Stamford Bridge, going two up within 25 minutes thanks to Andreas Christensen’s first goal for the club and a Jorginho penalty.
After the break, they extended their lead through Kai Havertz, before Rudiger’s moment came.
He pressed high up the pitch, forcing a turnover of possession and making his way into the penalty area. As he did, he was bundled over by Malmo defender Eric Larsson, leaving the referee with no choice but to point to the spot once more.
It was Rudiger’s reaction that really encapsulated the effervesence he brings to this Chelsea side, however.
As he lifted himself from the turf in the pouring west London rain, he smiled, stuck out his tongue and opened his eyes as wide as he could, delighted at his work and safe in the knowledge that Jorginho would convert the kick and his team were home and hosed.
Rudiger is clearly enjoying himself at the moment – and long may it continue.
