Watch: Chelsea’s Mason Mount beats two players with Zidane-esque turn

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount is a crowd favourite at Stamford Bridge and, with moments of skill like the turn he executed at Liverpool yesterday, it’s not hard to see why.

Many observers were concerned that Mount would be marginalised when Thomas Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard as manager, but he has underlined his importance to the team with a string of impressive performances.

And the 22-year-old, who represented England at Euro 2020, produced a turn so slick at Anfield that it would have made the great Zinedine Zidane stand up and applaud.

Mount watched the long pass from Marcos Alonso arrive at his feet and, as Joel Matip and Trent Alexander-Arnold closed in, flicked the ball behind him and left both of his opponents bamboozled.

The embarrassed Matip had no option but to bring his opponent down and concede the foul.
