Watch: Why Cole Palmer is Manchester City’s next superstar

Cole Palmer could be the next Manchester City player to follow Phil Foden’s footsteps into the first team.

In our latest YouTube video, we have checked out the youngster and seen what he’s all about.

Palmer is only 20 years old and yet he plays with composure beyond his years.

Manchester City recently took on Barcelona in a mid-season friendly and Palmer finished off a fine team goal in a 3-3 draw.

The 20-year-old has already made 14 first-team appearances for City, with five of those games coming in the Premier League.

Impressively, he has already managed to score goals in the FA Cup, League Cup and Champions League.

His first senior goal came in September 2021 in the League Cup as Pep Guardiola’s side swept Wycombe aside 6-1.

He made his Premier League debut against Burnley and later in the same day he featured for the club’s Under-23 side and scored a hat-trick.

Palmer has grabbed plenty of plaudits throughout his rise in the Manchester City academy and we can’t wait to see what’s next for him.

In January 2022, Palmer had been linked with a loan move to Newcastle United, but nothing came of their interest in the end.

During this transfer window, we have seen the Manchester City youngster being linked with a loan move to Borussia Dortmund, but Pep Guardiola is reluctant to loan him out.

Dortmund have quite the track record when it comes to developing young stars, former City youngster Jadon Sancho being a prime example.

While a loan move may seem like the obvious next stage in Palmer’s development, Pep Guardiola doesn’t always see it that way.

Take Phil Foden for example, instead of loaning him out as a teenager, Guardiola instead thought it would be more beneficial to his development to be learning off the first team each week.

Foden is now closing in on 300 appearances for City and Cole Palmer will be looking to follow in his footsteps.
