Cristiano Ronaldo has returned with a deafening bang, scoring two goals for Manchester United on his second debut for the club – and the second of them came via a terrific nutmeg finish in the second half.

Old Trafford was overcome with Ronaldo-mania as the Portuguese forward played for the club for the first time in 12 years. With a clinical display of finishing, Ronaldo showed just why United fans are so excited.

As the first half drew to a close, Mason Greenwood’s shot was saved by Newcastle ‘keeper Freddie Woodman and Ronaldo was perfectly positioned to tap in the loose ball.

Javier Manquillo drew Newcastle level at the start of the second period, but Ronaldo was not going to let his comeback be overshadowed.

After some lovely play to beat the Newcastle press, Luke Shaw picked up the ball in midfield and spotted Ronaldo making a beeline for the penalty box.

The England left-back played the pass and the rest was entirely predictable. Ronaldo took one touch to set himself and an arrowed finished right through Woodman’s legs.
