Watch: Drogba sends inspiring video to Chelsea players before UCL final
When it comes to Chelsea legends, Didier Drogba is right up there after he dragged the club to Champions League glory against the odds in 2012 and those in the current team will be looking to replicate his heroics.
But Manchester City are looking to get their hands on Europe’s biggest prize for the first time and Pep Guardiola’s men no doubt come into the final as favourites after recently lifting the Premier League title.
But Drogba knows better than anyone that being a favourite means very little. His last-minute header drew them level with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena nine years ago and the Ivorian stepped up in the penalty shootout to convert the winning spot-kick as well.
Now, he has sent a message to the current crop of Chelsea players on Twitter.
“Play as if this is your last chance to play a Champions League game,” he said in the video.
“Rise to the occasion. Believe. Believe. It’s in your DNA. This is our legacy. This is our legacy to you. Come on you Blues!”
