Watch: Firmino leaves Sherwood red-faced after confident corner prediction

Roberto Firmino’s late winner sent Liverpool to the top of the Premier League – and also embarrassed former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood.

The Reds took the lead through Mohamed Salah’s deflected strike before Son Heung-min levelled for Spurs in the 33rd minute.

With the game level at 1-1, Andy Robertson prepared to take a corner in injury-time and Sherwood issued his commentator’s curse.

“Another corner. I’m not too worried about this corner,” Sherwood said on Amazon Prime Video.

“I mean, it might come back to bite me here but I think Tottenham have got the dominancy in the air there. I’m not sure anyone can get their head on the first ball for Liverpool… apart from that one.”

Sherwood was immediately made to eat his words as Firmino beat the Spurs defenders in the air and headed past Hugo Lloris to seal all three points for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
