Watch: Gabriel Martinelli scores spectacular volley in Arsenal training

Arsenal‘s Gabriel Martinelli delivered a timely reminder of his incredible abilities during a recent training session.

After joining the club from Ituano in 2019, Martinelli became the first teenager to score 10 goals in a season for Arsenal since Nicolas Anelka in 1998-99.

The striker then picked up an untimely knee injury during a training session and spent a number of months on the sidelines.

He made his eagerly anticipated return against Everton in December 2020 but is yet to score in eight first-team appearances this season.

The 19-year-old was a surprise omission from the Arsenal squad for the north London derby against Tottenham, making it seven Premier League games without an appearance.

“He wants to play all the time,” Mikel Arteta said in February. “We know him and he is disappointed when he is not playing.

“But you know that when you throw him on that pitch he is going to do his best. He had his opportunity last week against Benfica when I decided to substitute Aubameyang and give him some minutes.

“He needs to take his opportunity and if he plays he needs to perform like everybody else.”

The forward sent a message to Arteta by scoring some brilliant goals in training, including a sensational volley.
