Gareth Bale isn’t very popular among Real Madrid fans at the moment, and he was booed on his return to the Bernabeu on Saturday night.
The 30-year-old Bale has been criticised in Spain after he was pictured celebrating Wales’ Euro 2020 qualification with a flag which read “Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order”.
Bale had missed Madrid’s last six matches with a calf injury, and he was on the bench for their La Liga game against Real Sociedad.
The winger came on as a substitute in the 66th minute, but he was initially jeered by home supporters and some fans held up a banner of their own which read ‘Rodrygo. Vini. Lucas. Bale. In That Order’.

Madrid had made the worst possible start as Willian Jose scored in the second minute to give Sociedad the lead.
However, Karim Benzema got the equaliser for the home side and Federico Valverde put Los Blancos in front in the second half.
Despite the boos, Bale played his part in Madrid’s third goal as his cross was headed down by Benzema before Luka Modric fired past the goalkeeper.
