Watch: Wijnaldum scores with acrobatic backheel flick in warm-up

Georginio Wijnaldum did his finest Zlatan Ibrahimovic impression before Liverpool‘s 2-0 win over Southampton.

Wijnaldum isn’t exactly renowned for his goal-scoring exploits, registering just 22 goals in 232 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool.

The midfielder was named in the starting line-up against Southampton and decided to do some target practice in front of the Kop during the warm-up

He got on the end of a cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold and performed a wonderful flick to volley the ball into the net.

The 30-year-old looks set to leave Liverpool on a free transfer next month after refusing to sign a new deal with the Reds.

“Wijnaldum is a free transfer and keeps all options open,” agent Humphry Nijman told Sport1. “FC Bayern is a great club. If you are interested in him, please feel free to speak to us.”
