Watch: Goal-line technology fails to spot clear Sheffield United goal

The Premier League’s restart got off to a controversial beginning as Sheffield United were denied a clear goal in their opening half against Aston Villa despite the ball appearing to blatantly cross the goal-line.

In the Premier League’s first fixture in over three months, referee Michael Oliver and his officials failed to spot Villa goalkeeper Orjan Nyland carrying the ball over his own goal-line.

But while Oliver should have been indicated of the goal by goal-line technology on his watch, he received no signal for the error.

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder was seen furious upon the conclusion of the first half, and replays showed he was vindicated in his frustration.
