Watch: Harvey Elliott returns to Liverpool training after horror injury

Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott has taken a big step in his recovery from the serious ankle injury that derailed his promising start to the season.

Elliott started all of Liverpool’s opening four Premier League games after returning from his impressive spell on loan at Blackburn Rovers. But he then suffered a fracture-dislocation of his left ankle during their 3-0 win against Leeds United in September.

The 18-year-old subsequently underwent successful surgery and has been undergoing rehabilitation in the gym.

Elliott returned to light training on Monday morning and has been running on grass for the first time since that game against Leeds.

“He’s great, Harvey’s great,” Jurgen Klopp told Liverpool’s official website earlier this month. “I have no idea when exactly it’ll be, but we can’t wait actually. It looks really good.

“Whichever person you speak to from the rehab department, you hear that he is so determined, he is really very positive all the time with us here.

“It is nice to see him smiling the whole day and working hard. He will be back, but how soon I don’t know.”
