After completing his £50million move to Liverpool in the January transfer window, Luis Diaz enjoyed meeting his new team-mates at the AXA training ground.

Diaz came up against his new team-mates earlier this season when Liverpool faced Porto in the Champions League group stage but was on the losing side on both occasions.

The winger, who recently played in Colombia’s World Cup qualifiers against Peru and Argentina, arrived in Merseyside on Friday after receiving international clearance. He was then greeted by Jurgen Klopp, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson and many others.

Van Dijk look very pleased to see their new signing, with the centre-back greeting him with a hug and saying “nice to meet you”.

But Diaz, who is around 5’8”was dwarfed by the Netherlands international and was taken aback by how big he actually is. He then went in a separate room to talk to Pepijn Lijnders and Jurgen Klopp, where he praised Van Dijk’s ability on the ball.

“I’m very happy and pleased to be here at this great team and this great club,” Diaz later said in an interview with Liverpool’s official website.

“I’ve not been here for very long but in the short time I’ve had with my new team-mates, I’ve shared a few words with some great players and real references at this club.

“I’m very proud to be meeting up with them, and to now have the chance to play alongside them as a team-mate and share a dressing room with them is a great source of pride for me. I’m really happy and content to be here.”

Diaz then came off the bench to make his Liverpool debut in their 3-1 win over Cardiff City in the FA Cup fourth round.
