Watch: ‘His free kicks were unbelievable!’ Gen Zer’s first reaction to Juninho
In our football legends reaction series on YouTube so far Ben has checked out some truly iconic players of the past, but no one quite like Juninho.
Regarded as the best free-kick taker of all time, we had to show what Juninho was capable of doing from outside the box.
The Brazilian holds the record for the most free-kicks scored in football history with 77 and we had to show Ben some of his best moments.
Juninho mastered the knuckleball technique and he continued to score from dead-ball situations throughout his career with staggering consistency.
He was a key member of the Lyon side that dominated Ligue 1 in the early 2000s.
Between 2001 and 2008 Juninho won seven consecutive French league titles, scoring 100 goals for Lyon in the process.
After leaving Lyon in 2008 Juninho went on to have spells in Qatar, Brazil and America before he retired in 2013.
Throughout his career, he scored 204 goals, 38% of which were from free-kicks.
He scored from outside the box with astonishing consistency and we don’t think we’ll see anyone else like him anytime soon.
